Tahini Cake Recipe

 

Tahini cake won’t be that same fluffy cake you’re used to. This cake will have a denser texture. You won’t need eggs and milk to go with this recipe. Just some healthy ingredients and tahini.

 

Ingredients:

 

1 cup        – tahini

2 ½ cups – cake flour

1 cup        – caster sugar

¼ cup      – brandy or cognac

1 tbsp       – ground cinnamon

¼ tsp        – ground cloves

2 tsp.        – baking powder

Zest and juice  – one orange

Additional ground cinnamon and icing sugar

 

Procedure:

 

  1.    Preheat oven to 180°C.
  2.    Grease and line a baking sheet of about 20 cm.
  3.    Mix tahini and caster sugar using a stand mixer.
  4.    Beat the mixture until it becomes fluffy.
  5.    Add the zest and juice of the orange and brandy or cognac for a minute until it’s well-mixed.
  6.    Then add flour, baking powder, and spices.
  7.    Fold the mixture gently until it’s well-mixed.
  8.    Fill the baking sheet with the mixture and cook for 45 minutes.
  9.    To make sure the cake’s ready, you can insert a toothpick. If it comes clean, it’s ready.
  10.  Let it cool for 10 minutes before removing it in the baking pan.
  11.  Transfer it to a plate and let it cool completely.
  12.  Garnish it with icing sugar and ground cinnamon.
